A skilled painter with an M.F.A. from Eastern Washington University, Jeanne has exhibited her award-winning art throughout the Pacific Northwest. Above all else, she places the greatest importance in what she calls “the making process.” Rogers does whatever it takes to make painting a fresh, experimental, and innovative experience.

Mexican/Cuban mixed media artista living full time in Todos Santos. She uses words, photography, found objects, and encaustic as her medium. The encaustic wax allows her to work in layers encasing fragments of memory as a means of stopping images and words in time. These layers tell a story; they represent life.

Through an intuitive process I explore the mysteries of space, subtleties of color and touching the unknowable. I am interested in unnoticed beauty and the beauty that lies in imperfection and transformation over time. To varying degrees discarded objects, books, marks, line, forgotten words, bits of paper and thread find their way into my pieces. The process of discovering the elements and creating the work allows me to enter a meditative space where the unconscious and thought meet and interweave themselves as in a dance.

I grew up in a house of artists and have been in love with making art for as long as I can remember. Currently I am exploring angelic and feminine archetypes and images as well as abstract experiments with color and texture using acrylics and mixed media. I have also painted the local landscape & landscapes from my imagination in acrylic and pastels.
