About 80 people enjoyed the opening of the 2nd annual juried photography show at Cafelix, enjoying some spectacular images, tasty appetizers and punch, and listening to great live music by Todd Clouser. They also had the opportunity to vote for their favorite in the 2 categories - "Baja' and "Open" - results and associated prizes will be posted in another article.
Although there were a smaller number of photographers and entries than last year (35 images accepted), the overall feedback we received from attendees was that many images were excellent, and that the show is the strongest that ARTS has hosted in Cafelix. If you haven't seen it, or couldn't see the show well due to the crush of people on opening night, do go and look at it now! The show runs until February 21st.
The judge, Bryan Walwork, described the judging process, and then announced the winners and prizes.
First Place, Baja Category, was awarded to Karin Schubert, for "Knitting on a chair". Karin won a gift certificate donated generously by "La Casita" restaurant
First Place in the "Open" category was awarded to Vic Kirby for "Old Friends". Vic won a coupon book donated by Escuela Pacifica.
2nd and 3rd place winners are shown below:
Second place in the Baja category was awarded to Jack Hamilton, for his image "La Carerra"
Second place in the "Open"category was awarded to Laurie Bauer for 'The Dancer"
3rd place in the Baja category was awarded to Jack Hamilton, for his image of "Javier"
3rd place in the "Open"category was won by Vic Kirby for "Commanding the Elements"
